LDA Safety System

Para is proud to offer you the safest semi-automatic pistol available today. All Light Double-Action (LDA) pistols use a unique triple-safety system. The Para-Ordnance LDA is unique in that it is the world's only double-action pistol that incorporates the internal firing pin block, plus a grip safety that locks the hammer assembly and the slide, and a thumb safety that disengages the trigger. As a further security measure, the double-action pull serves as a safety in itself. Always remember - safety is more than a mechanism; it's a mindset. As a responsible firearms owner, safety is ultimately in your hands.

Firing Pin Safety

Firing Pin Safety

The firing-pin safety is a passive system and is the most similar to the one on Para's Single-Action pistols. It uses an inertia firing pin (9) and a firing pin plunger (10), which keep the inertia firing pin from going forward until the trigger is intentionally squeezed. The shape of the firing pin plunger lever (35) is different from the one on a Para Single-Action pistol and it is activated by the drawbar (5) instead of the trigger bar lever.

Slide Lock Safety

Slide Lock Safety

The slide lock safety (43) can only be activated when the internal cocking cam and the slide are fully forward. The platform (61) keeps the drawbar (5) pushed up and engaged with the hammer. When the slide lock safety (43) is pushed up and fully engages the slide lock notch, the slide is prevented from moving rearward and the drawbar (5) is disengaged and prevents the hammer from moving rearward even if the trigger is squeezed. The safety lock lever (57) is pushed down when the straddle (52) is pushed up by the slide lock safety (43).

Grip Safety

Grip Safety

The grip safety prevents the rearward travel of the trigger and the slide unless the pistol is gripped firmly with the shooting hand depressing the grip safety. While the function of the LDA grip safety (14) is similar to that on Para's Single-Action pistols, it accomplishes the same task by blocking the hammer (17) with the grip safety lever (58) instead of by the trigger bow.
