Since their introduction, I've had the opportunity to check out a half dozen or so different LDA pistols. Being an old school cocked-and-locked guy, I initially had some reservations about the LDA system. But after examining the practical potential of the LDA trigger, I've become a believer.
Recently, I had the opportunity to evaluate a new limited edition pistol from Para USA. Based on the popular Nite-Tac design, this Coyote Brown variant incorporates a number of highly desirable features.
Gun Details
The Para Coyote Brown Nite-Tac is a full-size 1911 built on a steel frame. It embodies three signature Para qualities including a hi-cap frame, PXT extractor, and the LDA trigger. To further sweeten the package, the Nite-Tac features an integral rail to accommodate a white light, laser, or light/laser combo. Without a light or laser in place, the Nite-Tac will fit into a standard 1911 holster.
The all-steel frame has been redesigned and it is thinner than the original hi-cap models. Unloaded, the Nite-Tac tips the scales at 40 ounces. Although some professionals prefer a lighter gun for all-day concealed carry, the extra beef has its benefits. Muzzle flip and felt recoil are very mild in the Nite-Tac. Although I prefer standard pressure loads in .45ACP, even hot +P loads proved quite manageable.
Barrel length of the Nite-Tac is the traditional 5 inches, which guarantees top performance in .45ACP. Total length is 8.5 inches and stands 5.75 inches tall. Two 14-round magazines are included in the Coyote Brown Nite-Tac package. Ten-round magazines are available for jurisdictions that limit capacity.
