From its inception, the Para-Ordnance pistol design has incorporated one of the most vital safety features ever designed: an internal firing pin block that releases only when the trigger is pulled. This time-tested mechanism prevents inertial movement of the firing pin and consequent accidental discharge. True to the original M1911 design, the Para-Ordnance pistol also features both a positive thumb safety and a grip safety.

"Eliminates Case Overexpansion & Rotary Slippage"

Additionally, all Para-Ordnance barrels feature an integral feeding ramp. This distinctive Para-Ordnance design is an important safety feature, since it increases support for the cartridge and eliminates both case overexpansion and the rotary slippage common to original M1911A1 barrels.

The Para-Ordnance LDA is unique in that it is the world's only double-action pistol that incorporates the internal firing pin block, plus a grip safety that locks the hammer assembly and the slide, and a thumb safety that disengages the trigger. As a further security measure, the double-action pull serves as a safety in itself. Offering both positive safety and ready-access, the LDA pistol can actually be carried cocked and locked with the hammer down!
